Home Anxiety

Did you know, the primary cause of home-related anxiety is clutter!!

A stress survey conducted on behalf of the Huffington Post revealed home organization is one of the most common stress triggers. 84 percent of those polled worry their home isn't clean or organized enough, and 87 percent of the women polled experience anxiety over maintaining their homes.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a professional organizer and what exactly do they do?

Answer: The answer is simple and yet complex at the same time. There’s no right way or one way to organize your space. Professional organizers can objectively look at a project without judgment and help the client determine what organized means to them. Just as each person is unique so is their space and how they want it to look and function. However, the end goal is the same, a planned strategy to achieve and maintain the client’s objectives.

Who can benefit from a professional organizer?

Answer: Anyone! Those that feel they are pretty organized normally but may just feel stuck or overwhelmed by a certain area. Others may feel they have never been organized and don't know where to start.

What do I need to buy before the first session?

Answer: There’s no need to purchase any organizing materials prior to the first session. If you do not have containers, you wish to use or re-purpose then you’ll be notified when it’s time to go shopping.

How do sessions work for decluttering?

Answer: Together we sort your items, figure out where they belong, how to contain or store, and label if necessary. If needed, we will also implement new systems.

What happens to the stuff I don’t want to keep?

Answer: It’s important to keep in mind that the client is involved in each session and unless special arrangements are made, they are expected to be part of the process. Therefore, they will decide what to keep and what to get rid of. I will never make a client get rid of something they want to keep. However, when the client decides to get rid of something, together we decide if it’s given to a loved one, sold, donated, tossed or recycled.

How long will it take to complete a project?

Answer: It's a very common question and can be discussed during the first conversation.

Is it normal to feel anxious or nervous?

Answer: It's absolutely normal to have many different feelings the first session or two. During the process those feelings will start to be replaced with other much more positive feelings and emotions.

Questions you might be asking yourself right now

Can I afford or do I want to spend money on something I can do myself?

Instead, think about how much your time is worth and is there a price for peace of mind?

Be honest with yourself. Are you able to get motivated to start and finish a project? If so, what will your frustration and anxiety level be during the process and realistically how long will it take you?

Also ask yourself:

Will I be happier if I get help? Have I hired someone in the past to do something I could do myself? Such as, a cleaning company, handyman, painter, or tax preparer. Have I hired someone who has made my life better? Like a personal trainer, nutritionist, or stylist?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, then I say, “what are you waiting for?”
